Gave my first clinic of the year at Southern Oaks in Tallahassee, FL. In a Ride-A-Test the rider will warm-up and then ride their dressage test the same as they would in a dressage show. I judge the test and then afterwards I go over the comments and scores with the rider and give them a mini-lesson on how to improve. I was very impressed that none of the riders went off course doing the new 2011 dressage tests. Each rider had different issues to work with but some of the general themes were accuracy of the test movements, correct bending on circles, keeping the horse in a correct frame without getting behind the vertical, and correct angles in lateral work. Here are some photos of the horse and riders that participated. We had riders from Introductory to Third level. Marsha (owner of Southern Oaks) will be hosting two Ride-A-Test clinics in February, one in March, and one in April.
