Judging Dressage Shows in New York

This past weekend I flew to New York to judge two dressage schooling shows. I wanted to share some photos from my trip and pass along some wonderful information about the two groups that I worked for. I flew into Syracuse on Friday and had a one hour drive to Morgan Equine Veterinary & Farrier Hospital in Locke. This facility is owned by Jessica and Dallas Morgan. Jessica is a veterinarian that specializes in lameness diagnostics. Her husband Dallas is an expert farrier and they work together to help horses from all over New England. They have built a gorgeous cross-country course, it made me want to re-live my Pony Club days!

Thank you for doing your part to make our little show a success! We continue to get very positive feed back from competitors.

On Sunday I judged a show for the Cayuga Dressage and Combined Training Club at the Chemung County Fair Dressage Show. My phone battery was dead so I was unable to get any photos that day. We had an interesting show with a wide range of horses and riders. I had one musical freestyle and unfortunately it started pouring right at the beginning of her ride! We also had one woman whose saddle slipped and she fell off during her test! But both horse and rider remained in the arena so she mounted and ended up finishing her test. That is an interesting detail about the dressage rules, you are not disqualified if you fall off your horse, only if your horse leaves the arena. So she got right back on, tightened the girth and away they went! The show manager Cat Hill was very pleasant and everything was well organized and friendly. I highly recommend this show, the footing was great and they had a very large warm-up arena.
