When I was younger, I used to stay up all night writing in my journal, pondering my goals for the new year. My lists were very long! Then I would wake up the next day and try to have the "perfect day", ride all my horses, eat healthy, write in my journal, etc... Over the years I have realized that consistency is more important than striving for "perfect days". There will be many ups and downs, many goals that will be reached and some that need to be stored on the shelf for another day. I am very lucky to earn a living with horses and work with amazing students and professionals. It is my purpose to teach and inspire others to be creative with their horses and benefit from my experiences.
This classic quote will always be relevant, to any horse lover. This lovely photo was taken by Kimberly Chason (Chason Photos & Art) of my Friesian gelding Douwe. My custom dress was made by Rhonda Kirkpatrick in Dover-Foxcroft, Maine. Douwe's custom medieval tack was made by Lisa Oberman (El Sueno Espanol).

I love this quote by Sherry Larson. It is the perfect compliment to this magical photo taken by Kimberly Chason (Chason Photos & Art) of Aubrey and my Friesian horse Douwe. We did a photo shoot in Tallahassee, FL at Southern Oaks Equestrian Center (owned by Marsha Sapp) this past winter and Douwe worked his modeling magic. He is available for special photo shoots, and particularly loves working with young girls that think he is the prettiest horse in the world! Learn more about fantasy photo shoots...CLICK HERE.
We did a unicorn photo shoot with Douwe and this beautiful young lady, Aubrey, this winter in Florida. As always it was a magical experience to work with photographer Kimberly Chason. Douwe is available for Fantasy Photo Shoots if your daughter would like to create memories with a unicorn. :) Click here to learn more...

There are so many layers to riding a horse, and one is certainly related to your emotional and spiritual well-being. When my mind is quiet enough to hear my true voice, not the inner critic or ego, but my inner wisdom, that is when I am able to truly connect to my horse.
Of all of the voices, whether internal or from those around you, clamoring for your attention, saying you can't or you won't or you shouldn't, be sure to listen to the small voice saying you can. Your energy flows where your focus goes.
I love this quote by Jensen Siaw. Sometimes you just need to ignore all the negative voices, especially the ones in your head, and just go for it!
This beautiful saying was created by my mother-in-law Bethanne Regaglia. It has become my business motto and I love to share it with others. Riding a horse is so much more than learning physical skills. It is a mind-game, an opportunity to become one with the present moment, and a challenge to let go of our anxiety, tension, and our worries. I admit this is definitely a struggle some days...but when I finally get to that special place that's where the magic happens!
The calligraphy design is one of my art originals. I have a collection of designs on my SandraB. Designs website including clothing, apparel, and gifts. Click here to see the entire collection of designs and sayings.
I love this quote, it reminds me to trust my intuition and remember that life truly is magical. Our relationship with our horse, a snowflake, a sunset, all of these things are special. The feelings we keep hidden, the skills and talents we possess, it's time to share them with the world. Please share this image and leave a comment below, what are you hiding?
I prefer to wake up and chase my dreams on my Friesian horse! Please feel free to share this image on social media. I create these motivational images for others to use and enjoy. To go behind-the-scenes on this Red Riding Hood inspired photo shoot click here.
Douwe has taught me so much about building trust with a horse that has a difficult background. He was depressed, grumpy, and uninterested in bonding with me when I first bought him. He had many homes and I don't think he ever had a "person" for himself. It took years before he would call to me in the pasture, enjoy his grooming sessions, and look to me for leadership. Developing trust is not easy but certainly an essential ingredient for a special partnership. This special photo was taken by Karen Morang at the FHANA Keuring event that we performed at in Somers, CT. I had just taken the bridle off to begin the bridleless part of our new "Outlander" routine. Scroll down to watch the video.
Here is the video of our performance at Shallowbrook Equestrian Center in Somers, CT.
I just love this photo of me with Rovandio and I was giddy when I found this cute quote by Diane Keaton to go with it. What I love the most about liberty work is that the horse's personality actually expands and blossoms the more they are allowed to have an opinion and engage in the dance. I also feel that my horses thrive when they know that I am having fun. I can see my horse's ears perk up when I laugh or giggle so I definitely don't hold back in the enthusiasm department. Positive praise and voice cues sometimes work better than any other aid and are the most gentle of all.
In this photo I am enjoying a jazz dance with Rovandio. He is getting so much better at his liberty work, graduating to just the neck rope. Hopefully soon he will be able to perform without it. He is a lot different than Douwe but is learning at his own pace and I am starting to see his personality blossom. I love this quote because it sums up the nature of liberty work. It truly is an improvised dance between human and horse. Wonderful things happen spontaneously and I savor the moments that something unexpected but magical happens. This photo was taken by Kimberly Chason. Please share this quote with anyone that might appreciate it.
This photo was taken in Florida at Southern Oaks Equestrian Center. I am riding Gryphon, a Friesian gelding that I had in training. He is very sweet and I had a great time working with him. He was really fun to ride bareback with a smooth stride and a round barrel.
This beautiful photo was taken of me and Douwe by Kimberly Chason a few years ago. We were staying at Southern Oaks Equestrian Center in Tallahassee, FL owned by my friend Marsha Sapp. Kimberly is an amazing photographer and works with some of her photos to create a piece of art that can be purchased as a print or on canvas.
This quote is so simple and yet so true! Have you ever watched a dancer without music? Or enjoyed great music without feeling the desire to dance? Probably not! I cannot listen to music without imagining a horse moving with it, what movement would we perform, what would be the perfect gait or tempo? I am sure you are the same! This photo was taken at an open house performance at Safe Haven Farm in Durham, ME a few years ago. I am riding Douwe with dancer Lydia Rose Spencer. Her split leaps are amazing aren't they!? I love the fan veils she incorporated into that routine. I have included a video clip of that routine down below. Please feel free to save and share this quote/image and make sure to follow me on Pinterest where I have a board for Inspiring Horse Quotes.
"We don't create a fantasy world to escape reality, we create it to be able to stay."
I can relate to this quote because I love to daydream and play fantasy dress-up with my horse. This photo was taken of Douwe on the set of Essential Realism, an indie film that we acted in a few years ago. I played the part of Queen's head archer riding a beautiful, black unicorn. The film is not yet finished but I will certainly share information when it is ready!
How do you resonate with this quote? Do you live in a fantasy world? Go to Renaissance faires? Collect costumes? If you do then we would certainly get along!! Leave a comment below so I can meet my fellow fantasy friends! Please feel free to share this image, especially on Pinterest.
"Upon the horse the girl was lost
in a pounding, surging beat
not felt upon her own two feet."
- Bethanne Ragaglia
Watch one of my best friends, Marsha Sapp, ride Gitano, a breathtaking Gypsy gelding owned by another good friend of mine, Ivelisse Rosenstein. He has a beautiful Spanish walk (which you will see at the beginning), works on the pedestal, lays down, and even rides bridleless! Marsha is a sought-after trainer and has done an excellent job with Gitano. He looks like he loves to perform! Enjoy!
